Responding to the Combat Veteran in Crisis
The eight-hour presentation is designed to familiarize law enforcement personnel with the psychological aspects of the warrior response. Not limited to the effects post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury, we also discuss the long-term effects of sleep deprivation, alcohol and depression as it relates to combat experience.
Law enforcement personnel will learn how to recognize risk factors associated with suicide and suicide by cop and the immediacy of suicidal intent. Most importantly, we will discuss the actively suicidal veteran and specific techniques for intervention.
