Seminars in Law Enforcement

Basic Report Writing

Ever had a report kicked back? Your ideas are only as good as your ability to express them. A good report can be more important than a good arrest. In this one-day seminar, we’ll discuss “What is a good report?” A report is a systematic, well-organized document that portrays factual evidence of an incident that has taken place; therefore, the following areas will be discussed:

  • Interpretation and documentation of the significance in events or facts;
  • Discussion of sentence formation, grammar, punctuation and technical writing skills; and
  • The recording of a sequence of events in chronological order.

Reports must always be accurate, concise, clear and well-structured. This course will give the student more knowledge and an understanding on composing a flawless report.
